Earth Day

Earth Day is April 22

Earth Day is a global event each year since 1970 where people take to the streets to protest the negative impacts of 150 years of industrial development, and we believe that more than 1 billion people in 192 countries now take part in what is the largest civic-focused day of action in the world. It is a day of political action and civic participation. People march, sign petitions, meet with their elected officials, plant trees, clean up their towns and roads. Corporations and governments use it to make pledges and announce sustainability measures. Faith leaders, including Pope Francis, connect Earth Day with protecting Godís greatest creations, humans, biodiversity and the planet that we all live on.

Please call (618) 664-1465 ext. 104 by 4:00 p.m. the day before for meal reservations,
or no later than 9:30 a.m. on the day you are coming for lunch.
Lunch is served between 11:30AM - 12:15PM Monday - Friday.
To adjust to the reduction in funding from the state of Illinois, beginning February 5, 2016, Bond County Senior Center will not always provide meals on Fridays; Meals on Wheels could be limited to four days per week.

The Center will remain open for other services.

The Executive Director of the Center is urging local residents to contact legislators, the governor and other leaders about the service cuts that have occurred due to the lack of a state budget.

*With the help of generous anonymous donors and a ongoing PayPal secure online donations campaign, we are doing our best to be able to serve SOME Friday lunches during this state budget crisis. Please call the Center for more information on specific dates!
