Bond County Senior Center honored with Community Service Award

Greenville Women's Club presented their special awards during the annual Apple Day event Saturday October 1, 2011 in downtown Greenville, Illinois. In 2011 Bond County Senior Center received one of two of the Women's Club's Community Service Awards (The Greenville Public Library received the other).

Anna Oestreich, executive director of the senior center, accepted the award on behalf of the agency. Presenting the award was Gayle Wise representing Greenville Women's Club.

Bond County Senior Center was honored for its many years of service to residents of the community. The list of services provided by the senior center is lengthy. They include meal programs, transportation, education, recreational activities, income tax assistance and prescription assistance.

Cassie Smith won the Bond County Senior Citizen Spelling Bee in 2010. Elaine Kilmer finished second and joined Smith in the regional bee in Belleville.

Senior Dinner on Christmas
The Greenville Police Association sponsored their annual Christmas Day Dinner. The event was hosted in December 2009 at Bond County Senior Center and featured holiday music and gifts from Santa.
